Palm-mounted Controller
Keyboard Mouse Controller - KBMC
I build these palm-mounted controllers in my garage. In January 2020, I got an itch to play PC games with a controller, but couldn’t find any good options that satisfied all the things I wanted:
All the plastic design is in Autodesk Fusion 360
- The controller can be used seamlessly with an existing mouse and keyboard
- The controller is XInput plug-n-play; it doesn’t require drivers or software hacks
- The controller outputs full 360° analog for controller movement in games
- The controller can be used in a neutral hand position that doesn’t interfere with typing
- The controller is lightweight and easy to setup and store
The controller has undergone dozens of design iterations as I learned to build each part including the sensor electronics, the plastic housing, the micro-controller firmware, the surface finishing, and more. I personally use each iteration to play every PC game I play and have logged thousands of hours using it. It’s my daily driver and I don’t think I could ever go back to WASD for movement.
